In early January 2025, Agra’s 17th-century Mubarak Manzil, built by Aurangzeb, was largely demolished—despite its protected status. Local residents allege collusion between builders and officials as over 100 tractors of debris were carted away. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and district magistrate have since launched investigations into land records and demolition protocols.
